At Blackborg Butterfly Sanctuary, we believe in the power of hands-on learning to inspire the next generation of nature lovers. Our Classroom Education Program brings the wonder of butterfly metamorphosis directly to students, fostering curiosity, environmental awareness, and a deeper connection to the natural world.

 

What We Offer

 

Our program is designed for schools, homeschool groups, and educational organizations looking to provide an interactive learning experience. Each classroom package includes:

• Live Caterpillar Kits – Every student receives a cup with live caterpillars, along with food to support their growth until they form chrysalises.

• Metamorphosis Journals – A guided journal where students can document observations and learn fun facts about butterflies and pollination.

• Wildflower Seed Packets – Encouraging students to support local pollinators by planting flowers after releasing their butterflies.

• Biodegradable Cups – Once the butterflies are released, the cups can be filled with soil and planted in the ground, creating a sustainable cycle.

• Educational Flyers – Informational materials for students and parents, including QR codes linking to instructional videos and additional resources.

• A Blackborg Educator– A structured lesson plan with activities, discussion topics, and STEM-based learning connections.

Our Classroom Education Program is available in different package sizes:

• Small (Up to 10 Students) – Includes 10 caterpillar kits, journals, seed packets, and Blackborg educator lead educational session.

• Medium (Up to 25 Students) – Includes 25 caterpillar kits, journals, seed packets, and Blackborg educator lead educational session.

• Large (Up to 35 Students) – Includes 35 caterpillar kits, journals, seed packets, and Blackborg educator lead educational session.

 

Additional caterpillar kits and materials can be added upon request.
